The Process
I began with intensive research on the sport of curling, and Death Valley itself. I decided on making the mascot the "Devils", due to the high heat and Devils Hole in Death Valley.
The thumbnail sketches started off simple and unique, as I struggled to find the best route to create a logo that conjoined the team name and mascot.
After creating the thumbnail sketches, I chose the ones that I felt worked best. Then, I experimented with expanding and combining those ideas. Then I had to polish the smaller sketches into something more developed.
Final Product
The final product utilizes the mascot and "DV" typography as the main logo, with a supporting typographic element below. Together, the two create a daring logo design that represents the team.
